Showing Your Value to Management

Showing Your Value to Management

November 26, 2019

If you are like most internal auditors, you've probably experienced feeling ignored or under appreciated by management, and it doesn't feel very good at all. We do have an opportunity to become more aligned with the key objectives of our organization, provide more value and feel confident and valued.

In this week's episode of #jammingwithjason I discuss a few of the many things you need to do to show your value to management including: tooting your own horn, not placing so much influence on being independent, and focusing our attention of the areas your stakeholders believe are valuable.

If you want the trust and respect of management, you need risk-based internal auditing.

Since we are coming to the end of the year, make sure to take some time this week to feel and express gratitude for all you have and for those important people in your life. It will not only make you feel better, but it will make the world a better place for everyone.

If you are the type of person who would like step-by-step processes on how to improve your risk-based internal audit approach AND show your value to management, the new Certified Risk Based Internal Auditor (cRBIA) training and certification offered through cRisk Academy in right for you.

A Candid Discussion About Certifications

A Candid Discussion About Certifications

November 12, 2019

Certifications are a necessary part of developing your professional career. Without them, you risk being held back in your career earning potential, and promotion possibilities.

In today's job market, certifications are becoming more and more important ... but often they can take 1 to 2 years (or more) to obtain using archaic methods typically used to limit the number of people who can obtain the certification. If you need need experience before you can get certificated, but need a certification to get experience, what do you do? Does't make a lot of sense to me and there is a better way.

In this episode I speak candidly about what it takes to obtain a Big 3 certifications for internal auditors, some of the methods used to limit who can get certified, and what you can do to get yourself certified much quicker.

If you are the type of person who would rather spend 1 to 2 weeks getting a certification instead of 1 to 2 years, check out the new Certified Risk Based Internal Auditor (cRBIA) training and certification offered through cRisk Academy: https://ondemand.criskacademy.com/p/certified-risk-based-internal-auditor-crbia/?affcode=105582_jpp6czlf?product_id=1405370&coupon_code=EARLY

Auditing Humor and Other Oxymorons with Mike Jacka

As auditors we tend to be a very serious group of people. In our attempt to appear competent and professional we often switch over into the boring, robot-like realm ... a place that gives rise to much of the auditor stereotypes.

In this episode we discuss how humor and creativity can actually make us better auditors and more effective in our job, plus we have a lot more fun doing the work. I'm joined by Mike Jacka, a truly hilarious auditor who has been waving this flag for decades. Come laugh with us on this episode and walk away with some advice for how you too can incorporate more humor and creativity into auditing.
